I had a wonderful experience today. I was running a few miles along a paved path this afternoon. About 1 mile in i noticed something on the ground a few yards in front of me; it was a praying mantis. Before I could think too much about how cool Praying Mantis’ are, I ran by another one right in the middle of my path. “That’s odd.” I said to myself. Then just a few yards farther, two more were right on my running path. There were 4 Praying Mantis’ just sitting in the middle the path that I passed in a matter of 30 seconds.
If you’ve been keeping up with my posts you know that I’m in a tough transition stage of my life right now. I’m leaving my position at come2go ministries. It’s been an emotional roller coaster. But I’ve been so encouraged by tons of people calling, emailing & going out of their way to tell me that they’re praying for me.
As I passed those 4 Praying Mantis’, I felt God tell me that everyone who has been praying for me is helping me run my race and enabling me to continue running strong and hard. Thank you all for your prayers; they accomplish more than you know.

We seem to be in a season of re-positioning. I’ve run into a lot of people lately who have been quickly uprooted from their position and have quickly been placed somewhere else.
For the past 2 months I have been having feelings of “something’s coming”. I even told Bethany that “something’s coming”, but I had no idea what. This past week I found out what the “something” is. I have resigned my position at come2go ministries due to some issues of personal convictions and am entering a transition period into something new. I don’t know what the “new” is yet but in the middle of my sadness I have a growing sense of excitment.
I didn’t want to leave come2go; it’s not something I’ve been planning. In the matter of a few short weeks my life was turned upside-down. In the midst of all that sadness & pain, I know that God is re-positioning me and Bethany. I am very excited to see what God does.

Oh happy day! I’ve been going through recording-withdrawl since my last album, Priceless Treasure, came out. Then our worship team at come2go got asked to record two songs for a compilation album which we just got finished. They turned out even better than I thought (which is always a nice surprise). My itch is satisfied…for a little while anyway. Here’s one of the songs we did called Come & See. I’ll post the other one a bit later. Enjoy!

I used to joke around with my friends when they used to tell me, “Please don’t tell anyone else this, but…”. After I would hear all the priviledged information I would smile and say that I won’t tell anyone what I just heard…I’d just put it on my blog. Funny thing was I didn’t have a blog.
So a little while ago I decided to start this Red Sea blog thing and have actually quite enjoyed it. Needless to say I don’t joke anymore about posting my friends’ secrets on a blog that I didn’t have.
Now it’s official, I’ve gone from 0 blogs, to 1 blog, now to 2. I have justed started an email devotion/blog site called “Amazed”. I’m really excited about it.
Hopefully those reading will be blessed and encouraged, but I also hope it will drive me to learn more about worship so I can keep up with writing new thoughts about worship every week. You can check out the blog here. Enjoy!

Why use 3 channels to record a bass? Why Not!
I’m really excited because the worship team at my church got asked to record 2 original worship tunes for a compilation album. I’ve been itching to record again since I finished my last album, so the timing is perfect. Me and a couple of my friends just finished recording the drums & bass a few nights ago. It was a blast. We got our grubby little hands on TONS of great gear. It was one of those times when you say, “Whoops, I just bumped into that $3500 pre-amp and stepped on that $2000 mic.” It was Gear Nerd heaven. I’ll keep you updated on the songs. They should be ready in about 2 or 3 weeks. I’ll post them when they’re done so you can take a listen. Here’s just a little pic of my friend Morrison who is playing bass on the songs and helping me produce them. Nerds Rule!

My dad had a knee replacement just the other day (it went just fine by the way) and I went to visit him in the hospital. I told him that I would bring him a book to pass the time. So I was looking through my library and I came across a book called “Reese Howells; Intercessor”. I’ve read it 3 times I think, but when I picked it up off the shelf I instantly began to recall all the feelings I had while reading this book. It’s about a man named…you guessed it… Reese Howells who lived a life dependant on the Holy Spirit. I don’t want to tell you too much except that after almost every chapter I realized how much I have to learn about God; it is a humbling read…all 3 times. You gotta read this.

I was just reading the book of 2 Timothy and I read a verse that I’ve read many, many times but it struck me in a new way this morning. Writing to Timothy, Paul says this:
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God
It struck me that Paul didn’t say the Holy Spirit will fan into flame the gift of God, but he told Timothy himself to do it. Whatever God has given us, He expects us to cultivate. Whatever gifting or talent He’s entrusted to us, even if it’s really small, we’re responsible for.
This is the last day of 2008 and I’ve been doing a self-evaluation of sorts and I realized that I’ve been border-lined lazy as of late. I’m kinda mad at myself but I also have a renewed drive for 2009. I’ve picked out a couple things that I’m going to invest more of my time in; I want to fan into flame a couple gifts that God has given me that are still in their infant state. At the end of the day, I know I’m responsible for them and I really don’t want to find out someday that I’ve wasted them.

I’ve been trying to learn more about financial stuff lately. Bethany’s been teaching a course at church called “Financial Peace University” and it’s been really great. The major thrust of the course is really about getting & staying out of debt which I think is so relevant for today and especially for the Church. In one of the lessons, Dave Ramsey (the host) talked about impacting your family tree in regards to finances. It really hit home with me. I want to provide for my family; kids & grandkids for many generations to come. And I want to make an impact on my spiritual family tree by giving tons of money to people, ministries, my church, etc…
I’ve been listening lately to a roundtable discussion held at Morningstar Ministries (one of my favorite places on earth!). It’s called the KBA (Kingdom Business Association) and it’s a prophetic look at the current financial situation; how we got here, where we’re headed & so forth. I recommend you check it out here. I think there’s a practical side of handling our finances that will impact the spiritual side of it.
